A moment about programming
Previous | Next by ben 13 February, 2006 - 11:10 PM

I've been listening to hanselminutes now for a few weeks, and i have to say that i like some of the stuff he's pushing. specifically, #Develop, a free IDE for .Net code, his description of Boo, a .Net language written by some people trying to save their wrists, and so doing away with { and }.

Another interesting thing i've found, which all of you pogues should like, is Mono, and the Mono-Live CD... so you can have Linux and Mono up and running on your next bootup.

Speaking of Linux, has anyone been watching Ubuntu, or even goobuntu. If you think about this, if Mono becomes more popular, the question about which OS is best won't be so important.

What is a pogue?

POGUE - Derogatory military slang used by front line troops to describe staff and other rear echelon or support units/troops

2/14/2006 >> ralph

or, in the case of IT and such, the backoffice staff...programmers, etc...

So the people that aren't on the "front lines" dealing with customers?

2/14/2006 >> Dan

Those are refereed to as the suicide squad. Or in simple terms, expendable....

2/14/2006 >> muhgcee

like MEEEEEE!

:-D

2/14/2006 >> ben

yes... yes... we'll go with that, i like that

2/14/2006 >> muhgcee

I had a feeling all this was completely unrelated to what he was saying, hahahha.

all things being equal.... blah blah blah.... threads in Ben's blog.......blah blah blah....

now STFU troll :)

But what are you going to do when you want that little tool/plugin/libary (that is poorly written) and only works in Visual Studio on Windows?

Either way my $$$ is on .NET for the future. Its obvious M$ is going that way and Linux is following. Thats kinda ass backwards.
