A great thread on Slashdot:

New NSA Program

The comments are actually pretty insightful.

muhgcee, I saw that on slashdot yesterday as well, and it completely infuriated me. now, I just saw this in the Washington Post and I'm dismayed at how quickly the sheep...er....citizens.....of this country are willing to give up their civil liberties and rights all in the name of "security". I wish I had time to go off on a rant, but work is calling.

Goddamn it, this fucking administration pisses me off.

Ron Smith has commentary

Ze Frank has commentary

A few more comments on this...

1) Ron Smith rocks.
2) I am encouraged by the fact that any smart people I have heard comment about this have disapproved. I'll take all the smartest people over 65% of the rest of the people any day.

Oh yeah, other thing I wanted to say was that it is incredibly ironic that I happened to watch 1984 yesterday.

I think the most delicious irony lies in what Ze Frank pointed out, what with repubs wanting to keep government out of people's lives. :-P

intro note -

"Aided by the cooperation of US telecom corporations, AT&T, Verizon and BellSouth"

I'm glad I use Cingular...

next, from Ron Smith's:

"I don’t trust government to do the right thing."

Wasn't this the standard of the Republican party's argument for smaller government... let the people and local governments control much more of their lives? Interesting role reversal...

side note - go to google, type in The Decider and hit I'm Feeling Lucky... hehe
