So I made a new friend this weekend, and I like him a lot... he likes scotch (he had a very nice bottle of JW Gold, and while i'm not usually into blended whisky, this was good), he liked The Last Unicorn (UUUnicorn! UUUUUUnicorrrrrn!!!), and he just lent me cowboy bebop, 6 discs of it... now i just need time to watch it, hehe

Bacardi 151 Congratulations! You're 153 proof, with specific scores in beer (120) , wine (116), and liquor (139). |
All right. No more messing around. Your knowledge of alcohol is so high
that you have drinking and getting plastered down to a science. Sure,
you could get wasted drinking beer, but who needs all those trips to
the bathroom? You head straight for the bar and pick up that which is
most efficient. | | My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: | You scored higher than 89% on proof | | You scored higher than 96% on beer index | | You scored higher than 96% on wine index | | You scored higher than 99% on liquor index |

seems like more and more people are getting fed up with the opinions of the slavering, mindless masses of the internet and just hanging up their writing shoes.
personally, i had no problems with Simpson's review of the movie, it's his opinion, and it lets me go into it with a more real perspective, but i'll be a bit saddened that such a good writer about the whole Douglas Adams/H2G2 history is leaving the field, vanquished by pubescent AOLers and people who look up to Comic Book Guy as a role model.

The Baltimore city papers brew festival is this weekend. I went last year and it was simply awesome. No beer tickets like the Oktoberfest, just pay to get in and drink all you wish.

So I just got an iPod (wheeeeee) and I'm busy throwing music onto it. But I have a lot of songs that lack ID3 tags, and that works against iTunes. So I'm wondering if anyone knows of any intelligent apps to handle this.
For example, I have an album by Hexstatic. None of the files have tags. I'd like to apply "Hexstatic" to the "Artist" property of the tag in every file, then have an app be smart enough to figure out that whatever comes after " - " which is the usual separator I use between artist name - song title, is indeed the song's title and add that to "Title" property of the tag in every file.
Phew. Hope someone followed that.

I am thinking of getting a server from JohnCompanies. Has anyone had any experience with them? Seems like a great deal - it may be a "virtual" OS of sorts, but you get root, and for the next couple of weeks it is $45/month with 40GB bandwidth and 4GB of space.

I am selling a bunch of my computer parts as I attempt to be more realistic about what I really need. I am selling them at a discount to people I know before I throw them up on eBay. Check them out here. I have tried to make everything a good deal, but if you think any of the prices are too high, let me know and I will probably lower them. I will update this page a few times with new parts, and I will post a comment whenever I do to "bump" the thread.

Does anyone else have a problem with windows always dissconnecting from samba?
I have a samba share in linux and when I connect to it from linux it works flawlessly. If I connect to it in windows it becomes sooo flaky. I try to listen to music on the samba share to hear 10 seconds of a song then it says connection lost.
Any and all help would be apreciated.

Alrihght here is my dilema.
My dad disabled his monitor on his laptop(don't ask). This, in windows, sets a registry value agp440. Upon rebooting the computer the computer will not boot windows in any mode(regular, safe, command line, etc). The solution to this problem has two answers(that I know of).
Answer #1: Reset the windows registry without booting into windows.
Answer #2: Reset the admin password in windows.
Here is what I tried so far
- Used Knoppix STD to reset the registry/password. Did not work because Knoppix STD does not boot on the usb cd drive.
- Used a boot program (chntpw, a linux program) to change the admin passwd and it didn't work.
- Used login recovery to see that the admins password entry in windows is Administrator:500:unknown:unknown:::
** I need to either change the admin password or edit the registry so I can run the Recovery console off of a windows xp disc. It looks like there is no password on the admin account but when I get into the recovery console and I hit enter to tell it there is no passwd it tells me wrong passwd.
Please help! If this were linux there would be no problem.

while mitch hedberg's death makes me very sad, i'm just plain confused about the pope... careful, that last one apparently has reggae music playing...
how do you all feel about this? hedberg was a funny guy, and i liked his humor... and he was scheduled to play here this weekend too.
do they give refunds for death? like, a plane taking off or rain, sure... but... wtf mate?

So, I went to the open meeting last night, where we were told about the idea of the conference, what they're trying to do and so on and so forth... the committee chairs that were present each gave about a 5 minute talk about their status, etc. It's all very, very early in the planning stages, which can be good or bad, considering there's only 6 months to do all of this stuff. They're working under the Creative Alliance nonprofit umbrella, which seems like a good idea; however, it seems like there's not a lot of experienced people, in terms of organizing an event of this magnitude.
