So, before the "hard" release date of September 7, they've announced that you can download their Creature Creator in June, and get started early... I will probably be doing this, but not sure of what the value would be, without real gameplay. but it's Spore, so... yeah... hehe

I've given up on coffee because it does nothing but tear my stomach up due the to acidity. I've started drinking tea a lot more at work now and I have this feeling that just getting hot water from the water dispenser isn't really doing my tea justice. I've been digging around on Amazon and I found the Sunbeam HTM3 Hot Tea Maker. Does anyone else have any other suggestions? I'm usually drinking tea all morning long. I like to get a couple cups out of my tea bag before I pitch it and I've only done bagged tea, not loose tea.

For anyone interested, hulu has the first 5 episodes of season 2 of Heroes right now. They tend to change what they've got available pretty frequently, but my guess is they'll keep these up for a little while, and add the new episodes (there were 8 this season? or 13?) week by week, probably removing the old ones...

my rundown is very domestic, but i figured that's shareable by the nature of its being a break from habit, it was noteworthy.
Saturday, Ann came over and led the fight against the back yard... we (finally) got rid of all of the recycling under the porch - several months' worth and two full carloads of paper and plastic, and a can full of trash. She cleaned up the flagstone area, and whacked all of the weeds on the bricks, tilled the garden and cleaned the porch itself. There are exactly 2 remaining bits that "need" to be removed - the 2+ year old keg of yuengling and its bucket, and the old grill, which i still need to break down and put into bags, or just leave out for bulk trash...
i made a lot of food too, some soup based on vegetables that i bought at the farmer's market (cheap!!), cookies, and came to the realization that a small fry pan is NOT a substitute for an omelette pan...
how was your weekend?

So, yeah... let me just start off with, this is awesome! I was, very uncharacteristically, at a Blockbuster with Ann last night, and came across the best thing I've ever seen at a movie store! Dragonlance came out with an animated movie of the first book. I thought about how to present this post in a few different ways: the satirical critic, appraising something based on something he loves (fanboy); the super geek, overjoyed that this could finally happen, and with a pretty good list of voice actors even (I'll get to that); or comically, poking fun at a cartoon version of a somewhat adult themed fantasy novel, etc. (full disclosure - I only got partway through it, as it was late at night and I had to get to work early enough to write this)

Are you excited about life? Yes? If so, Brown Mega Corporation would like to talk with you about a number of opportunities that are possible if you decide that you would like to volunteer your skills to one of our many projects.
Thanks. Let me know.
--Tom "Don’t call me sir" Brown
This is about the lengths we go to...the heights we go to...and then we have to take a break sometimes because sometimes we get an idea and it is really kewel, but we don’t have the time right now to finish it off or take it to the level that we imagined...so here is this piece as is. I can’t say it is finished, but I wanted you the viewer to experience the sounds.

Thought you all would appreciate this one:
Over the past month, Mexico has seen several incidents of anti-emo bashings and harassment by members of other subcultures like metal heads, skaters, punks and Goths, as well as ordinary working-class adolescents.
It isn't The Onion, or satire at all for that matter, but it sure does read like it.
Update: WTF, it is on Counterpunch, too?

I just took my first Facebook app out of development mode. It's not complete, but it's done enough that I'd consider it usable by other people. It's nothing fancy, just a Nine Inch Nails collection check list and plus a music player for Ghosts I-IV. But it was an interesting learning experience, and I'll be adding some more things too it in the not too distant future.

Dan and I saw Saul Williams last night at Ram's Head On Stage in Annapolis. On Stage seats maybe 100 people at MOST. It's a dinner and a show kind of place so everyone is at tables and servers are coming back asking if you want drinks or appetizers through the whole show. For a performance as big as Saul Williams, this kinda makes things a little awkward for both performer and audience.

Holy crap. The most interesting stat from this box score is the attendance: 10,505
Lowest at Camden Yards since 1992. And this was the 2nd game of the season. Weather: 55 degrees and clear.

Well, I didn't want to tell anyone before it was a real thing, but it looks like, partly due to my new job, and partly due to the market, I'm moving to DC. I will have a temporary place here, but not for a week or so. Sorry it's a surprise and all, but it all just came together really quickly, and it will mean good things for me financially, and commute wise... the place looks really nice too, i'll have you all down when i move in...
