What kinds of goofy things would you do? I think I would offer $1 million to southern white trash 'devout' Christians to allow me to film them shitting on a picture of Jesus, a stack of bibles, and a giant cross. Old Cletus wouldn't know what to do. That'd be fun. What would you do?

I followed blindly into the market with the rest of the sheep out there thinking that Linux is the way to go and let me just say...it's easy as hell on a vanilla box that comes with nothing special. When you do it to your home machine that you use for gaming and all sorts of things...not quite the same.
Note:
This article here was the one that really got me thinking about switching over.

i don't mean give me books... I mean, I'm considering leaving netvibes, because I don't like their new refresh settings (they don't refresh a tab until i switch to it).
I tried pageflakes, but wasn't too terribly impressed, the same as with ig...
Stu just pointed me to bloglines, so i'll try that.. but while i do - what do you folks use? I liked the widgets for netvibes (a myspace widget, so i don't have to log in to read the blogs of my friends who insist on posting to that crap, etc.), which ig and pageflakes have as well... anything cool that you folks use?

/. links to an article about a Montana senator requesting free tuition for math, science & engineering majors (as well as help for teachers, and other things).
How do you feel about this? I for one, am in an "engineering" field, but I studied Anthropology (and Philosophy, and Art History, but still...) - what about tuition for the social sciences? or specifically, political science, so people can understand what's going on with their country?

First off, the 8th Edition of Chuffed! (brought to you by the numbers 3, 4 and 8 and the letter P) is this Saturday - come down and see me why don't you? I'll be tag teaming with Pete Welsch to open and to close, bringing the house, funk, techno, and whatever else fits in my bag...
Secondly (oh, you made it this far? good!), npr recorded the Gogol Bordello Show at the 9:30 Club, all of almost 2 hours. It's not a soundboard, but it's good quality (wherever they were, they picked up the sound well... I think I can hear Jamie whistling after the 2nd song... hehehehehe.

The bankruns on country wide have begun. Hope your bank has the proper separation between the retail and commercial banking sides.. Oh wait... buwhahaha That law got repealed! Get ready to get F-kd in a scary non erotic way!. My advice is to keep at least 15 - 25K in cash at home in a gun locker and get ready to deal with roving bands of toothless methed out cletuses rampaging from house to house looking for cash. This marks the end of the era of the "shareholder nation" and a return to great depression style living - where getting a meal and having a roof is good enough for most.

D&D 4th Edition Announced at GenCon
Can anyone explain to me how it makes any sense to space the release of the 4E Player's Guide and DM's Guide by 2 months? I mean... don't you really need both to get a game going? I suppose all of the really important stuff is in the Player's Guide and you could probably run a game from just what's in there... but... I dunno... not releasing them at the same time just seems dumb.
Also, the new Monstrous Manual is being released in between them. It's definitely useful and all, but how does it get release precedence over the DM's Guide?

I'll readily and proudly admit it. I am a liberal. Call me a Chomsky liberal, a Nader liberal, an anarchist. I'm all of those (at least in theory, what with my corporate job and all). Or call me a progressive. Whatever, you get the point.
Anyway so despite all of the above, I am looking for a couple of good conservative blogs to keep up on. I am looking for two categories:
- reasonable/thinking conservatives. i.e. Ron Smith, Rich Matthews, Ron Paul.
- mainstream/ridiculous conservatives. i.e. Limbaugh, Hannity, Cheney, McCain, etc.
Note that I am not looking for these people in particular. Just these two lines of thinking. I figure the first category will give me a good "other side of the coin" to consider (even though I would probably agree with most "reasonable conservatives" on Iraq). And the second category will give me insight on what conservatives in power are thinking. That is all. I await your suggestions, thanks!

It’s not exactly news, but after just having received an email from Pageflakes (which is just like google pages, netvibes, yahoo page thingy and the one the Microsoft put out), it seems to me that spaces are quickly filling up, and the vast majority of web users have at least one account in each of the following:
Social Networking
Personalized Home Page/News Aggregator/Portal
Web Based Email
Blog/Message Board checked/used regularly
(possibly) favorite online shopping (amazon, ebay, overstock, zappos, etc.)

So, as many of you know, I went canoeing last weekend, and as I was the driver, I was screwing around with the radio. I promptly switched back to my iPod, and forgot about it. When I got home, the car radio was still on 90.5, but oddly enough, I was picking up wxpn, a Philly station that broadcasts at 88.5. I'm not complaining, they're great to listen to (albeit a little bit fuzzily) in the mornings and evenings - no chatter, actually good music, and still get news and weather (well, you get told the weather we just had, 30 minutes ago, but still cool). So, very cool, but now I'm scared to change the station, in case I don't get it back.
For those of you wondering, 88.5 around here comes out of DC - that's NPR there.

Check it out:
also can listen to more on pure volume, and of course, they have a suck space account...
sucks that they're not coming around here, and aren't in eventful to demand (not that i've had much success with that...)

This is kind of interesting but mostly a bunch of crap IMO. I've met plenty of GenY tards who are some hard working fckers. I think GenX (my group) and GenY need to team up and turn the boomers into soilent green. Remember it’s the boomers who bear responsibility for the situation that this country is currently in. Do the world a favor and kill a boomer today! It’s your patriotic duty.

Im re-reading the books of the Art for the 2nd time (hoping that book 3 comes out soon) since Everville came out in 94. Man is Clive a sicko. He makes even AnarchyX blush. Come on I mean Kisson makes weapons from a frothy mixture of his own semen and feces. Clive was way ahead of his time and actually envisioned Santurum nearly a decade before it became mainstream.

i've been reading Tony Bourdain's books - Kitchen Confidential and A Cook's Tour - and time and again (quite floridly sometimes, but he's a New Yorker, it's to be expected), he describes how he's a 2, maybe a 3 star chef, but the really talented, 3 and 4 star chefs out there are doing things with food that he never would have thought of - he can only, as he said once, just look at what they've made in awe, and try to think of a way to steal it and use it...
That's how I feel about Scott Guthrie, Scott Allen, and Scott Hanselman (no, it's not envy due to having an older, smarter brother named Scott - I swear, they all just happened to be named Scott!)... when i read things like this... "We can entirely remove any WCF configuration from web.config. Instead of all the XML configuration goo, we just need a Factory attribute in our .svc file" - basically, without any configuration, you can add JSON (Javascript Object Notation) to the file presto change-o with no muss and no fuss...
I never would have thought of that - but I know how I'll use it.

"Dateline 08/01/07
Another senseless tragedy has struck the Big Apple. It seems a Ralph Doyle provoked a contest of wills and sphincters as he sat down to relieve himself in the men's room at his place of work yesterday afternoon. Refusing to be the first to do his business Mr. Doyle held back. Unknown to Mr. Doyle is that his fellow bathroom mate in the next stall suffered a massive death dealing heart attack within minutes of his arrival. Apparently, Mr. Stern died quietly and emitted no ending gasp to alert Mr. Doyle of his passing.
Not until 7 to 8 hours later, when the housekeeping crew entered the bathroom, did they discover one dead man and Mr. Doyle who had become immobilized as his legs had fallen asleep from inactivity and restricted blood flow. 911 was called, ample amounts of WD-40 were sprayed about Mr. Doyle's buttocks to un-wedge him from the seat. Mr. Doyle is resting quietly at St. Rita's Hospital suffering only constipation and waiting for a psychiatric evaluation."
I didn't write this...
Full Disclosure - this is the email from Ralph what started it all (I can't make this up):
"I'm in the shitter and someone just sat down next to me with a newspaper. This will be a test of wills to see who can last longer without going.
Game ON, motherfucker."

I caught a shark on Sunday durring a fishing cruise out of Ocean City! He was about three feet long and thrown back in the ocean about 12 miles out.
Good times had by all. This was only my third time fishing ever. One of these previous times involves a Snoopy fishing pole apparently.
I received a fishing pole for my birthday. Watch out fishes, a new man is in town, he is a shark catcher so your little ass stands no chance.

shut up... he's awesome, and Feasting on Asphalt is starting again, season 2 baby!
Alton Brown is my favorite TV chef - beating Jacques Pepin and even (gasp) The Great Julia. this show also strikes at something I love, learning about "real" american food all across the country - he goes to places WAY off the beaten path - no McDonald's, no chains, just real food, really good. it makes me want to get on a motorcycle and join him (of course, reading A Cook's Tour makes me want to go around the world with Tony Bourdain... so... there)

the people have spoken, and The Incorruptible Warrior is a hugely popular game, despite its drawbacks (bad, bad game, being one of them)... most people (including boing^2, from whence i got this link) are attributing it to the frustration that the Chinese people are feeling about corruption in the government...
which begs the obvious question... where's our American version? oh... right... sorry...
