Ben's Party.
I'd be particularly interested in:
A) What someone thought we said to them?
B) Why the baseball bat when we were leaving VOLUNTARILY?
I held the door for you, and you got a bat?
I am genuinely interested, as none of us would ever knowingly insult or put down anyone.

I just got out of a 3 week (with one week of training) setup of LanDesk and I have to say that I like it quite a bit. The application is going to touch multiple facets of the university and be used by multiple IT associates. I'm lucky as hell over here in Dental because we were chosen to house the servers which means we get to administer the entire thing.
Here's my dilemma: The core server functions as basically the spinal cord for the entire system and has to be made available to everyone. I had a DNS entry placed for the campus to point directly to the core server as http://landesk.umaryland.edu. Currently that section of the site is blank and says under construction (the basic IIS page) and LanDesk isn't going to put anything there.
Now I can put up a simple HTML page with links further in to landesk.umaryland.edu or I could put a wiki up there, or a blog, or whatever...I don't really know what to do.
First off here are the requirements. What I put up has to be compatible with Microsoft SQL because we've got that running on the LanDesk database server and I can easily tie it in. Secondly, it can't be too intensive because the server was designed for LanDesk and I don't want to push it. Thirdly, I'm hoping that whatever I put there will ultimately be a useful tool in the long run.

November the 5th, the Ron Paul Campaign made big news by raising 4.3 million bucks in one day, mostly online. This was the all time record online, and nearly the one day record in US politics over all.

I highly recommend this for everyone. The greatest television show to ever air is available on Amazon for $30 for the entire series for today only while supplies last.
Buy it now. Buy four of them. Give them to friends and family.
Update: Sold Out

If you're like me, and like to download mix sets, the ID3v2 tag is your friend... if you can find the set list, the Comments section will hold the entire thing. A VERY handy thing for reference...
In the future, when recording sets, if I don't track them out, I will try to remember to do this for y'all.

Well, folks, I hate to break with tradition, but this year I think I'm breaking with tradition ( Tradition!) and changing the new year's party a little bit.
Firstly - I'm only planning on one night this time. I know that the 3 night, no holds barred, people making with the mass crazy is awesome, but I can't do it this year.
Secondly - It's not on New Year's eve this year... my party will be the 29th (Saturday), not the 31st. You're still coming though, because you're going to be tired of your family at that point, and seriously, who else would schedule that party?
So, Fort 502, Saturday 12/29/2007 - the new time for the new tradition to start. Come on out, drink and be merry, and spend what's left of 2007 with your friends! Consider this your invitation!

via PCWorld - TaskBar Shuffle, a tiny tray app that lets you move your taskbar items around. If you're like me, and MUST have Outlook be on the far left, and want to organize the rest of them the way you want, this is handy.
I ALWAYS turn off grouping in the taskbar, that annoys the living crap out of me, so this is handy

"
The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday overwhelmingly approved a bill saying that anyone offering an open Wi-Fi connection to the public must report illegal images including "obscene" cartoons and drawings--or face fines of up to $300,000.
That broad definition would cover individuals, coffee shops, libraries, hotels, and even some government agencies that provide Wi-Fi. It also sweeps in social-networking sites, domain name registrars, Internet service providers, and e-mail service providers such as Hotmail and Gmail, and it may require that the complete contents of the user's account be retained for subsequent police inspection.
Before the House vote, which was a lopsided 409 to 2, Rep. Nick Lampson (D-Texas) held a press conference on Capitol Hill with John Walsh, the host of America's Most Wanted and Ernie Allen, head of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Not one Democrat opposed the SAFE Act. Two Republicans did: Rep. Ron Paul, the libertarian-leaning presidential candidate from Texas, and Rep. Paul Broun from Georgia.

A Representative Matthews would have also voted no on this bill. This requires communications companies to monitor your transmissions.

Because my wife is fucking awesome, she got me a 60GB PlayStation 3 for the first night of Hanukah! Why is the 60GB so cool? They're not making them any more and they're the only model that actually has the PlayStation 2 hardware inside it, so it maintains over 97% backward compatibility with previous-generation games, as opposed to the 80GB's 72% compatibility through software emulation. Hotness.
