I think I'm going to lose it. As some of you may (or may not) know, I switched jobs at the beginning of the month. I was actually recruited away from my last job by this place, more money, better position, etc... I like working here, I'm on the top floor (43rd) of a building in Midtown, have a window that overlooks the East River and Queens with a fantastic view. The only problem is that I now share my office with someone else...

I am so goddamn tired right now and I want a steak, but the place we usually go to for lunch only has really big expensive steaks and I want a smaller one, and I think Hard Rock has them in the size I want, but that's way the fuck over there and expensive anyway and and and... this is SO not about a damn steak.

jamie, your post about hey ya, charlie brown is, i think, pretty much waking up the world to our site...
if you go to the bottom of this screen, and click on the number, which links you to sitemeter... then go to the exit or entry pages or referrals... you'll see that just about anyone who's coming here (aside from the regulars), is coming to jamie's post. out of the last 100... about 90% of the visits have been due to that. last week, i had 849 visits... for the week...
today, i have hit 885.
HI EVERYBODY! WELCOME TO THE COOLEST SITE EVER!...

I don't normally find TV the thing to do. Of all the things on TV I usually find the night time "news" shows to be an utter farce. 20/20 is usually one of the worst offenders. But here's an article all about what we shouldn't be afraid of. We need to further encourage 20/20's bold act of calm-mongering.

I must know the answer. Now that I have a house I'm thinking of buying something I've wanted since I was 13. I want a stand-up video arcade game of my very own, one in particular. The problem is I forgot the name of it about 6 years ago.
Here's a description: Wire frame graphics of a tunnel or "web" that would change shapes on successive levels. You controlled a "spider" that would crawl around the edges of the wire frame webs. The spider could shoot "down" to the center of the web at various harmful nasties that would emit from the center fo the web. Sometimes the nasties might make it to the outer edge of the web where they then too could crawl around and pursue your spider. If your spider touched any of the nasties, you died. 25 cents per three lives.
What the hell was the name of this game?

so i try to bring out thought provoking ideas, or at least think of them sometimes... but i can't for the life of me figure out the whole overarching connection... the thread as it were that connects all of the points.
don't get me wrong, they pretty much all agree with each other, in my head, but i can't find myself saying "life is..." sounds trite to me, to sum up all things in a sentence. i can't even make broad sweeping generalizations (hola brian!), like "electronic music is the future" or "liberals are all something or other" or whatever... what is life? it is pretty complicated, that's what it is... and no one bit seems to be more important than the other...
so i charge you, my EAnauts... this weekend, let one thing go... something that would irritate you, or make you mad or even make you violent... try just... letting it slide? see if it does anything...
did i just steal this idea from someone? i don't know

I am going on a snowboarding trip to New York (Ellicottville), about an hour south of Buffalo. I was originally going to go with DocScott, but his mom is getting major surgery that he needs to stay home for. So, as it stands now, I am going to go by myself. I think I will have fun anyway, but to cut down on the costs and to add to the fun of the trip, I am open to someone joining me. It is from Monday Jan 19 through Thursday or Friday Jan 22 or 23. I have a slopeside lodge, and it is about a 6-7 hour drive each way. Anyway, I do not strictly require half the money of the lodging, in fact anything close to free and up will get you in on the trip (but please be generous, I am not trying to profit here, just covering expenses). I hope I have found an interested party, if so post something on here and we will get in touch.

ahh, parties with adrienne, that's one thing i'm going to miss... well, off to florida with here, and on to

I am, as you read this, reading "Who Moved My Cheese?"
It's like "Waiting For Godot", without the underdrop of religion, and with a whole lot of 'assuming the intelligence of corporate America is just below that of a slug'. I would like to thank my company, Docutech, for forcing me read this formulaic drivel.

a thought occurred to me this morning, in the shower, where they normally do...
last night i saw a bit of "inside the actor's studio" with tom cruise, while passing over to somewhere else... and for some reason this morning i was thinking, even if you're the most private actor, your name and your parents' names are still out there, publicly. and with some of the geneology sites erato was showing me, with a little time, and no money, one could find out all that they wanted about any star...

that link didn't work, i think you just have to copy it to winamp.

Oy! - Yo!
Over the past few days I have been running over and over what, if any, the linguistic genealogy might be of this synonymic quasi palindromeic pairing of words. I am naught for an answer, and it is keeping me in quite a vexed state, precariously wobbling over the edge to insanity.

I am annoyed. So I've moved (yay). Verizon said they'd have my phone lines up and running this passed monday, 1/5/04. Well, two phone numbers and 250 cell phone minutes later I still don't even have so much as a dialtone.
I think I'm going to post about my experience on Verizon's investor message board.
Does anyone know of any good competing carriers that serve Columbia, MD? Cavalier maybe?

Ok, if you keep up with FARK like I do then you probably know about this guy, but in case you don't: he's been arrested 804 times (and counting). 98%ish percent of those arrests are for being drunk in public. Friggin' classic stuff I tell ya, and check out his 48 mugshots, my favorite of which is below.
