and mix... must learn to mix better too, snicker. by friday... there's a party on saturday, and i haven't heard 1/3 of my records, could there be a better problem in the world?

Is the United States going to hell, western civilization being subverted, knaves scuttling like fetid crabs through the corridors of power and nitwits ravaging the schools in the manner of monkeys in a fruit store? (Yes, actually.) Relish it for the splendid historical theater that it is. A better spectacle there cannot be.
I say this seriously. If you regard yourself as audience rather than participant, the accelerating collapse becomes entertainment. You read each morning’s headlines with zest to see what new and preposterous clownishness erupts from Washington. It is high comedy.

Be advised, the Pixies are on tour. On Oct.8 they play in Tampa...some of us already have tix, but if anyone else wants to make this a big-ol EA get together I'm very very on that tip. If you're a fan, get your tickets and come on down. My house will be open for travelers.

Anyone know where I can find this cd (or even record?)
Groove Armada's Another Late Night... Azuli's web shop might sell it to me for 8 quid (15 bucks?), plus another 8 in shipping and handling... I added more to the shopping cart to try and offset the postage, but 3 cds works out to 60 dollars...
So anywho... Barnes and Noble has most of the Another Late Night series, but of course, they don't have...? Right, Groove Armada.
Why am I so set on this? Because, I've heard about 1/2 the tracks so far on BeatBlender, and they've all been really good (Especially Open Door's version of Breathe - yes, from DSOTM)... So, there you have it, any one know of where I could find this?
Thanks awfully for your help... if you help me, hehe

ABC Family channel is showing Blazing Saddles right now, and i can't decide which is funnier, what's left of the movie itself, the lengths to which the workers at the channel have gone to to bleep out all of the "niggers", farts and nudity, or what it says about us that we show Blazing Saddles at 8 o'clock on a Wednesday night on the family channel...
yes, it is rated R... hehehe

So, I had a realization that when work starts to piss me off, I've adopted the bad habit of transfering my anger to this blog. This usually manifests as a half-assed provocation at a flame war or a stupid mac vs PC debate. If its even close to successful, I end up getting frustrated anyway because it never ends up making me feel any better in the end. (When I'm particularly pissed off I'll get drunk and start a competition to see how many people I can get to squelch me on #fark without letting on that that is a goal.)
Then I realized that alot of us bitch about work on this blog (my way just being much more oblique and less emotionally honest). Is it fair to say that most of us are fairly happy with the nature of our work and that its really just the people we have to deal with that piss us off?
I really hate having to eat the shit my superiors serve sometimes. I really hate the very concept behind the word "superiors". Fucking baby boomers are all over the fucking place, fucking up my planet and my country. Too many boomers and not enough us, no wonder so many of us have what? three? four? bosses each, average?
Reality imitates "Office Space" so much sometimes.

Tired of being underappreciated and manipulated by powerful "others," you fight back. Though possesssing a cold, violent outside, you have a soft, scentimental ( sic) inside. You love your partner, you cherish family heirlooms, and you want nothing more than to be geniunely happy -- but you don't mind having to kill a couple of nimrods who happen to clutter your path.

entertaining weekend, to be sure... first of all, i got to watch several episodes of west wing's second season (got it on dvd). that's a great show, if i haven't already told you that a bunch of times, really worth watching... you learn a lot, no matter who you are. friday night, went to sonar where the drinks weren't guinness and the women were smrt (2 points for that reference). the sopranos season finale was really good, too... i won't give it away if you haven't seen it, but oh shit, to quote ralph. around about 11 last night, jamie convinced me to come out to sonar, so i did, and we had a fun time... and people don't know what an effigy is. my favorite was the woman who was wearing a bar code painted on... either her or the blonde chick that jamie and faith and i all thought was really hot, hehehe. too bad no one went up and talked to her.

Biodiesel is the answer to American energy dependence. I know I've been fond of harping on nukes and I still think nukes have a good future for making electricity. But what we really need for energy independence is an alternative fuel, and hydrogen is the only fuel that electricity could be viably converted into (or so I thought). Unfortunately, I've recently learned that hydrogen really sucks as a fuel.
So back to biodiesel. I've looked into the arable land limitations to see if it could completely supplant drilled oil and gasoline. I found a great article on the subject, which heavily references a 1996 DOE report co-authored by a friendly acquaintance of mine, Paul Roessler. The two main conclusions are that 1) with algal pond culture, land use for biodiesel production is basically not a problem and that 2) at best, biodiesel could sell for about twice as much as fossil diesel in 1996. Except now its 2004, the cost of fossil diesel has risen and the projected costs of domestic biodiesel have not changed. Biodiesel is now a price-competitive alternative. The cars are already made for it and the diesel pumps are already built. I know how to grow algae fairly well. Anyone want to go into business?

he got this in his email the other day, hehehe, without careful reading, he thought i'd died 4 years ago, hehehe
note 2 things:
1) he can't spell "client", "believe" or "appologise", but he can spell Stiefel (perhaps because he's Austrian by birth AND nationalization... not just birth, and not just nationalization (what the crap?), but BOTH!
and 2) while being nationally Austrian, working in "Uk" - i like that a lot by the way, it's like the modernization of Ur - he sent this from voila.fr (France)... and wants you to reply to a .com address...
still, i died in 2000 and left 25.5 million quid for "minning"...
