Last week we had our water heater replaced because the old one was leaking. Not a big deal, only a small puddle, but it was expensive to replace and that's really not an expense we needed right now.
This morning we discovered our basement flooded because somehow after living here for almost a year and a half, the sump pump became slightly unplugged. I just wiggled it back into place and it started right up again. It doesn't look like there was too much damage. Some rugs that have been down there since we moved in absorbed the brunt of it. We did get some wetness around the piles of stuff that we haven't unpacked since we moved in, so tonight after everything dries out, we'll have to go through all that and see what was damaged. Again, probably not going to end up being a big deal, but really freakin annoying and we've got enough to take care of with the wedding only a month away.

So I was wondering if anyone out there would be interested in doing some free (or cheap) design work. I want to make my comic book sites look a little more professional than the black on white with blue links that they are right now.

B-MORE SOCIAL...that's right...coming soon: a new online magazine to document the Baltimore social scene in a way that just isn't done.
At one level it will be a consciousness builder for the city, so that it can become more aware of itself...and thereby develop and improve. At another level it will be a place for active Baltimoreans to get the attention they deserve and need for their efforts. You go out to the bars and you want to be noticed! B-More Social can make that happen.
Hey..it was B-More Social right? I got so duh-runk last night...but I think that is the name you recommended. Hey! Let me know when you get that bar / club going. I find it awesome that you are moving in that direction.

Pie and I watched the pilot of The Riches last night (though it aired last week, yay timeshifting!). It's a new drama on FX starring Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver. Eddie Izzard also executive produces the show.
Watching it was quite an experience. All I knew going into it was that it was a new show starring Eddie Izzard about a family who pretends to be rich and ends up living in a swanky neighborhood. Honestly, I was expecting a sit-com, and though the show definitely has its funny moments (and a cross-dressing younger son), it's a pretty intense drama.

Well, I have my first non Baltimore set coming up this Saturday - I will be at Chuffed this weekend, opening up for the big boys, meaning if you want to come see me play, get there around 9, if you want to just hang out and drink with me, get there before 3... any time in between is good for dancing...
Speaking of dancing, i myself am chuffed, as there were actually people dancing during my set this past Saturday at Joe Squared (that's a first for me!)... if you're wondering why you didn't hear of it, it's mainly because I wasn't sure I was playing until that day, as I had already gotten tickets to see Spamalot for the same night. Spamalot, by the way, is very much fun times - it's funny, it has a lot of reference to the original Holy Grail movie, as well as some to other Monty Python material... all in all, I definitely had a good time.
Speaking of good times, one daily dose of good times is over, but you can find the extra special saturday good bye to The Show over here... thanks back to Ze Frank for giving us a year of awesome show - and a lot more to play with...

If you're a contractor who hates people, this is good code to write. If you're for some reason in the mood to make people who are going to debug your code long after you're gone mad and angry, this is great code to write. But if you want to be nice... please don't write code like this... can anyone tell me why?

The show Rome... anyone watch it? like it? I've watched all of Season 2 to this point (on demand is pretty cool) and none of season 1... i like the show. I basically like the two main soldiers the best, but the rest of the cast is good. who thinks what of it? If you don't have HBO, or for some reason prefer watching TV on your computer, you can find the (recent) episodes here or all of season one here

Rich pointed out an issue with the archive page where if you weren't logged in, you'd only see the latest 20 posts as the base, before the filter... this was because of a database issue (read: me = stupid), but I fixed it, and now, even if you're not logged in, I will show you all the posts...
in other news, i can't wait for 5 o'clock, and Ralph if you snicker about getting out early, i'll... be very upset.

thanks to Jamie for pointing this out to me (don't know that I ever would have done it), but if you search for my name in youtube, there's one result. go ahead, try it out. That's right, go now... I'll wait.
Did you find it? Ok, start watching, but also click on the "more" link for the details - yep, there I am...
Yep, either I'm a balding, rather fat guitarist, or I'm tall, dorky, playing a keyboard and sporting one awesome moustache... yeah baby, this is fame, and I love it.
Come to the Caberet, oh yeah.

Not to spam, but Ben, you said to let you know about the online magazine I am working on. I'd like to take it to print one day, but will have to figure out the format.
I keep saying that I want to do stuff, but forget to do it...For example, I forgot to attend your DJ'ing performance the other day. How did that go?
I could include you and your links to the next issue of WAN Mag, which will be out April 2007.

This is pretty much a shot in the dark, but does anyone else here have DirecTV and possibly also have their HD DVR service? My box is the HR20 and I've been grabbing the beta software for it that lets me get Off-the-Air channels (as well as other fun features). Just wondering if anyone else here had a similar setup so we could swap stories/advice/tricks/whatever.

many of you know that i love the machinima series Red Vs. Blue, and many of you developers know that I hold Scott Guthrie in high regard, and read his blog often. So it was pretty cool to read this story today, and i can't wait to watch it (i'm in a java class right now, so that might be a bit crass...). looks awesome

Did you all know that there was a sequel to Walking Tall, and that instead of The Rock, it is starring Kevin Sorbo?
Edit: It went direct to video. I think I might just have to Netflix this.
