why not eat well at least, while it's sinking?
So while in LA this weekend, for our last meal, Ann ordered a “pan finished rigatoni with beet greens and sausage” – it was really good (beet greens being something I constantly overlook, even though they’re like, free awesomeness when you buy beets!), the best part being that while the rigatoni was completely cooked, it was a also crunchy which is, I’m assuming, achieved by just slightly undercooking the pasta and then tossing it in a very hot pan with fat for a few minutes - I’d go with the bacon or sausage grease here, or oil if not using meat, yes? – and then combining everything?
It was a bizarre texture for the pasta, but fantastic, and I want to recreate it… has anyone done this? i saw one recipe that looks promising, but anyone with first hand experience is called upon to tell me if it worked well or not... thanks!

God these tards make me retch. I had to deal with a whole bunch of them this weekend (in laws). Idiot step something or other of the wife's has seen 8 of the last companies he has ever worked for implode in the last week. Is mortgaged to the hilt lives in exurbia driving two Escalades on the verge of financial oblivion: Stupid cunt wife who hasn't worked in years because she wants to be home to watch her precious kids (despite their impending homelessness) who are middle school aged and in school all day anyway; Proclaims that they have to vote McCain because he will stop murdering babies. Vote your're economic self interests or at least a real issue. I think we seriously need some form of near mass extinction to cull the heard.

So in my class yesterday, History of the US until Reconstruction (1877), the professor uses the first 30-40 minutes of our 2.5-hour class to: (1) explain the current credit crisis and (2) do a little bit of Democrat cheer leading. For point (1) I find it annoying merely because it isn't relevant at ALL to the material the course is supposed to cover. Or, maybe it is in some way, but it would probably be a stretch and in any case he made no attempt to relate it to the class as a whole. Even though I find this to be annoying, I could have lived with it. Certainly it is an important topic that we could all use a primer on, so there is at least that.
It is point (2) that really bugged me. As a preface to his lecture on the credit crisis he was going over unequal distribution of income as a general concept. He threw in the fact (or opinion or whatever it is, I haven't looked it up) that since World War II, whenever a Democrat is president the bottom portion of the population will see some of the economic growth reflected in their income. And whenever a Republican is president there will still be economic growth but the bottom portion of the population will not see the growth reflected in their income. Later on he pulls out an Obama quote (used in a positive way) to describe the crisis or suggest a solution. Altogether it was a pretty blatant display of cheer leading for the Democrats.
I feel that he has abused his position as professor to speak to an audience that was required to be there in pursuit of a different goal. Going beyond that, he seemed to be using the classroom to bring impressionable young minds to his side in the upcoming presidential election.
So this brings me to my question: What should I do? I feel that there are a few options, most of which involve writing a letter:
1) Write a letter to the professor.
2) Write a letter to the History Department chair.
3) Write a letter to someone in the university administration.
4) Do nothing.
I am mostly leaning towards option 2. What do you think I should do? Basically I want to run this by you all to make sure I am not misinterpreting the ethics of this situation, and to make sure I don't do something inappropriate to this situation. Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Subject: URGENT BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP
DEAR AMERICAN:
I NEED TO ASK YOU TO SUPPORT AN URGENT SECRET BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP WITH A TRANSFER OF FUNDS OF GREAT MAGNITUDE.
I AM MINISTRY OF THE TREASURY OF THE REPUBLIC OF AMERICA. MY COUNTRY HAS HAD CRISIS THAT HAS CAUSED THE NEED FOR LARGE TRANSFER OF FUNDS OF 800 BILLION DOLLARS US. IF YOU WOULD ASSIST ME IN THIS TRANSFER, IT WOULD BE MOST PROFITABLE TO YOU.
I AM WORKING WITH MR. PHIL GRAM, LOBBYIST FOR UBS, WHO WILL BE MY REPLACEMENT AS MINISTRY OF THE TREASURY IN JANUARY. AS A SENATOR, YOU MAY KNOW HIM AS THE LEADER OF THE AMERICAN BANKING DEREGULATION MOVEMENT IN THE 1990S. THIS TRANSACTIN IS 100% SAFE.
THIS IS A MATTER OF GREAT URGENCY. WE NEED A BLANK CHECK. WE NEED THE FUNDS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. WE CANNOT DIRECTLY TRANSFER THESE FUNDS IN THE NAMES OF OUR CLOSE FRIENDS BECAUSE WE ARE CONSTANTLY UNDER SURVEILLANCE. MY FAMILY LAWYER ADVISED ME THAT I SHOULD LOOK FOR A RELIABLE AND TRUSTWORTHY PERSON WHO WILL ACT AS A NEXT OF KIN SO THE FUNDS CAN BE TRANSFERRED.
PLEASE REPLY WITH ALL OF YOUR BANK ACCOUNT, IRA AND COLLEGE FUND ACCOUNT NUMBERS AND THOSE OF YOUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN TO WALLSTREETBAILOUT@TREASURY.GOV SO THAT WE MAY TRANSFER YOUR COMMISSION FOR THIS TRANSACTION. AFTER I RECEIVE THAT INFORMATION, I WILL RESPOND WITH DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT SAFEGUARDS THAT WILL BE USED TO PROTECT THE FUNDS.
YOURS FAITHFULLY MINISTER OF TREASURY PAULSON

Thank god that vapid cunt is dead. Unfortunately the tard army is still running the show and we are now witnessing history:
From http://www.counterpunch.org/whitney09202008.html
By MIKE WHITNEY
On Friday morning, Senator Christopher Dodd, the head of the Senate Banking Committee, was interviewed on ABC's “Good Morning America.” Dodd revealed that just hours earlier at an emergency meeting convened by Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke, lawmakers were told that "We’re literally maybe days away from a complete meltdown of our financial system.” Dodd added somberly, that in his three decades of serving in public office, he had "never heard language like this.”

I've launched a new blog, sfdrumandbass.com. From the first post:
This site has been born out of my frustration in finding a centralized place to locate information on drum and bass in San Francisco. I intend first and foremost to make this a place where you can find and answer to the question: Are there any dnb events in the city tonight/tomorrow/this weekend?
Also I intend to post reviews of shows and clubs that I go to. Stay tuned. The first event I will be going to is this Saturday 9/20 at Underground SF: Bassism

well, there's been some important changes in our house lately - first, Creighton moved over to his new place, second, we replaced the porn couch that smelled of pee with a new one, and finally, located the problem with the bathroom sink - SOMEONE dropped a piece of plastic in there, and it's been stuck in the trap for a long time - and removed the trap, and the problem. Of course, now there's no way to get the trap back ON... it's so old and busted, that we need to replace it. Unfortunately, that is beyond my skills, so it's plumber time...
I'm voting for an entirely new sink... Ann votes for just repairing it... the taps are original to the house, and I'm not sure it isn't time for a replacement... anyone have any opinions?

As you may have read in other posts, Pie and I are doing some work on a movie. It's by the same writer/directory who did GhostWatcher and GhostWatcher II except with a significantly bigger budget. The two days I've been on set so far have been awesome, but that's not what this post is about. What this post is about is that we need an actress. No experience required.

So, pretty big news was handed down to me about my main gig - apparently they want to change up the format a little bit. So all of you in the Baltimore Area who haven't been coming out and supporting my nights based solely on the fact that you don't like house music - that's about to change! I haven't decided what exactly i'll be playing, but be prepared for some Motown (because that's what I know I have a lot of, and, well, Ann likes it, maybe she'll come out?), and some un-moldy oldies... :)
Also - i don't know WHY the calendar doesn't want to update, but this month I'm playing tonight, and I think that's it...

Anyone remember the video that someone posted here not too long ago with that electronic musical instrument where you could set a beat by moving marbles around above a light sensor? Something like what's used in the first couple seconds of this video? Can anyone find that post? Or tell me what the device is called?
I ask because NIN used one that was about 8 feet tall at the concert I went to on Friday and it was pretty fucking sweet.

So we all know Frank Miller is a bit of a crazypants. He's a brilliant crazypants, but still a crazypants. His first foray into Batman was The Dark Knight Returns, which I read a while ago and honestly don't remember a whole lot about other than the fact that it takes place at a theoretical end of Batman's career and there's fighting against Superman. It was good, but it was far enough outside of the realm of what I knew as Batman that I just thought of it as an Elseworlds. (He also wrote a sequel much later that I remember nothing about other than the fact that it was a little disappointing.)
Miller's second foray into Batman was Batman: Year One, which I am ashamed to admit I just read for the first time within the last month. It was a pretty good story about Batman's beginnings. Miller threw in some stuff to make his Dark Knight Returns story fit better into the main continuity and gave the whole series a much grittier feel, but still kept it within the realm of canon Batman. It is considered by many to be the essential Batman book and served as the inspiration for both the Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan Batman movies.
Most recently, Miller worked on All-Star Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder, which I read right after I finished Year One, because I heard it was approximately Miller's Year One-and-a-Half. I'd probably call it more of a Year-Two-and-a-Half, but that's not the point. The point is... what the fuck?
