More Spam. More Missing Posts.

I just deleted 10 more spam posts. Unfortunately this uncovered a bug that caused me to delete at least two (if not more) legit posts as well :(

If you delete a post while a previous delete operation is still in progress, it deletes the wrong post, because it appears to be using the visual index of the post (5th from the top) rather than the database index (id 5432).

Ben, time to implement one of our proposed spam-prevention measures? Maybe temporarily disable registration?

Alright, I'm on the prowl. I'm looking for a portable Windows 8 device (laptop/ultrabook/whatever). Must be actual Windows 8, not RT. Must have a touch screen AND a real keyboard. Must be a decent (not necessarily spectacular) gaming machine (Guild Wars 2 to be precise). Any suggestions? No urgency on this potential purchase. Just window shopping for now.

So I'm (at laaaaaast) upgrading my DJ system to an all in one (CDs + mixer + serato) soon, and I'm looking to sell my existing - Pioneer CDJ 100, CDJ 200, and Vestax Pro 4 channel mixer. All three are in perfect condition, great for beginners who want to dip their toes in DJing but don't want to lay out $1000+ to get started. Anyone in San Diego interested? $450 for the whole set, individual prices negotiable.

Dark Side of the Moonshine by Poor Man's Whiskey

I know I've been on a bit of a bluegrass kick lately, and anyone that's known me for more than a few years knows that Dub Side of the Moon is one of my favorite cover albums, so it's not with any sort of flippancy that I recommend Dark Side of the Moonshine... the videos may in fact be greater than the album version, simply because of the fact that they're all dressed up like the characters from The Wizard of Oz.

If you don't get why that's funny then you really should spend some time in a freshman dormitory in any college in the country...

So for my job I used to have to travel, I believe most of you know this... through most of 2008 I was "shipping up to Boston" (hey hey hey) to work on a project. I was staying, then, at the Seaport hotel, which is part of the "Preferred Hotels" group. Since I was such a frequent guest, they started emailing me about other, nice deals they come out with from time to time... such as a week in a castle outside of Dublin, to play golf, or 3 nights in Acapulco with complimentary spa treatment... or this one I just got which just made me wonder "who does this??"... like... who actually decides to to the following, and why am i not friends with them?

Let me preface this post by saying I have never played a Halo game start to finish, in fact, the only one I've played outside of deathmatches is Halo Wars, an RTS. But this looks EPIC... a live action 5 part web series that is leading up to Halo 4 release in November. Knowing VERY little about the mythos/setting, I still enjoyed this a whole lot... it's written well (so far), and, being from Microsoft, it has the same kind of mainstream budget that H+ has obtained... the sfx are really, really good. Check it out:

woohoo! I am writing this as I start to watch Star Wars Episode IV in all its unrestored glory!. I first heard about this version on tested.com - i have no idea how I got there, but I'm so glad I did.

Note: I didn't end up using the above mentioned links to acquire my copies, but they're a good place to start... torrenting them is probably a good idea, your mileage may vary...

I'm loving mine though. this is glorious.

UPDATE: did any of you hear about the Senator screening the original 70mm version back in 2010?

It's Upgrade Time

Okay, so right now I've got two 1TB drives set up as a hardware RAID1 as my main system disks and two 3TB drives set up as a software RAID1 as my media disks. The media drives have about 200GB free are are storing nothing but movies and music (mostly movies). The system drives are using up 430GB. I'm running Windows 7.

End goal is to upgrade to Windows 8 using an upgrade key (when it comes out), replace the system drives with 256GB SSDs (still in a RAID1), and move the entire Users folder onto the Media drives.

Dream

I had a dream last night that Jamie had uploaded about 300 pictures from seeing Magic: The Gathering: The Musical, but had, to a certain extent, kept it anonymous. I was only able to tell it was him partly by his words, but also because in one picture, his leather shoes were in the shot.

I was trying to figure out why he had wanted it anonymous, because getting to see something as awesome as Magic: The Gathering: The Musical seemed to me like something one would want to share/gloat about...

Then the dream shifted, and for some reason we were IN Magic: The Gathering: The Musical, but it was real to us, like, some guys on a ship were threatening to torture us for information if we didn't do what they wanted... then the dream went much more pedestrian, nothing magical after that, but this part was... very share worthy, i thought.

It deals with Human Computer Interaction, technology & psychology, and the ideas of "transhumanism".
